Comment: Many thanks for looking after the cemetery. I visited on sun 26oct to find my grandparents graves with the help of a photo taken in 1948, Maud Ethel Thompson died 1948. I think my grandfather Herbert A Thompson is buried next to her but the headstone is unmarked. How do I find out if this is correct and can i arrange to have his name put on his headstone. I think he died in 1979/80. They lived in eastfield lodge Benton. My son is a student and lives in jesmond. I hope to come and clear up the plot next time we visit I hope this will be ok

Comment: My great grandmother and grandfather are buried in the cemetary, moved in 1972 to a different plot because of the proposed motorway plan at that time. Having spent New Year in Newcastle, my daughter is today undertaking a search for the plot! I went over the documents with my mother last night and so my daughter has the relevant information; but will she find it? Will there be a superintendent to direct her to no.3, Section F7, Ward IX? Your website is most useful! I should become a friend!

Comment: For years I've wondered about this cemetery as a number of my ancestors are buried here according to family documents, including my Great-gt Grandfather John Bradshaw who was Mayer of Gateshead. Fantastic to track you down with a bit of googling! I would dearly love to visit some time and pay my respects - it's good to know that the cemetery is being looked after. I live very close to our local cemetery here in Sheffield, which has come under the custodianship of a similar scheme - it's quite a beauty spot! Thank you:-)

Comment: I visited the grave of my baby son this morning and was amazed at the difference you have made. it is now a pleasure to spend time walking in this beautiful cemetary. This has inspired me to contact the Friends to see if I can help.
